Beyond a Shadow

May 17, 2025 Cafesjian Teen Council's project, Beyond a Shadow, is a collective video art installation created by seven members of the Council. Through the lens of video art, Beyond a Shadow sheds light on hidden voices, giving the teens a platform to express their emotions and perspectives. The artwork consists of 11 interconnected videos, each exploring a distinct theme inspired by personal and collective experience of the participants. The creative use of new technologies not only preserves these expressions, but reimagines the practices cultural narratives are shared and understood.

The videos unite cohesive pieces, symbolizing how individual voices contribute to a greater whole. This collective vision bridges the past and the future, blending traditional storytelling with modern mediums, to preserve and celebrate cultural values in an ever-evolving technological era.

In December 2024, Beyond a Shadow was presented at the Teen Art Awards and received special recognition: it was selected to be part of the digital video showcase at the award finale in Qatar, was awarded with a Diploma with distinction, and included in the digital edition of the exhibition catalog.
